ExcalidrawZ began as a native Apple client for keeping Excalidraw files organized, saved, and easy to reopen. That remains the foundation: a local-first Excalidraw client for Mac, iPad, and iPhone.
The app keeps the familiar Excalidraw canvas and adds the pieces that make it work as a daily Apple app: local file management, recent files, history, search, import/export, iCloud-aware storage, and native sharing.
ExcalidrawZ 2.0 introduced AI Chat for reading the current canvas, editing elements, creating diagrams, using library items, attaching images, revising previous prompts, and reverting AI-made changes. AI remains optional, and the app includes settings for account, credits, model preferences, and usage activity.
ExcalidrawZ 2.1 added locked files. Locked drawings and checkpoints are encrypted on disk, unlock with system authentication or a Recovery Key, and are kept away from AI access. Per-file AI visibility controls make it clear whether the current drawing can be used by AI features.
The 2.2 development line adds MCP services, a richer Math tool, and custom toolbar ordering. MCP support lets compatible clients create and edit ExcalidrawZ drawings through Basic or Optimized interaction modes. The Math tool adds LaTeX editing, function graph rendering, reusable templates, live previews, and AI-assisted generation.
The website is being updated to match this product shape: the core is still the Excalidraw client. Privacy controls, AI-assisted editing, structured math workflows, and automation-ready canvas tools are additions on top of that foundation.
