How ExcalidrawZ handles local files, AI requests, purchases, and cloud services.

ExcalidrawZ is designed around local-first drawing and file management. Your drawing files stay on your device by default. Some optional features, including iCloud sync, App Store purchases, and AI features, require external services and are described below.
Your ExcalidrawZ drawings, libraries, media, and file history are stored locally on your device unless you choose to use Apple iCloud or another system-level sync mechanism. ExcalidrawZ does not upload your entire local file library to ExcalidrawZ servers for normal drawing or file management.
AI features are optional and are off until you enable them. When you use AI, ExcalidrawZ may send your prompt, relevant canvas content, selected model, tool-call inputs and results, attached images, and account/credits metadata to ExcalidrawZ cloud AI services so the request can be completed.
AI receives only content involved in the request, such as the active canvas data, selected elements, specific tool results, or images you attach. Files are not uploaded wholesale simply because they exist in your library.
ExcalidrawZ cloud AI services may route AI requests to third-party model providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or other providers depending on the selected model and service availability. Those providers process the request content to generate the AI response.
App Store purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple. ExcalidrawZ may use an anonymous or app-scoped identity with ExcalidrawZ AI services to restore AI access, track credits, enforce usage limits, and connect subscription status to AI availability.
If you enable iCloud sync or use App Store purchase flows, Apple processes the relevant account, payment, and sync data under Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
ExcalidrawZ does not currently include a local AI provider such as Ollama. If local AI support is added in the future, this policy will be updated to explain how it works.
You can disable AI features in the app settings. When AI is disabled, ExcalidrawZ does not send AI requests or refresh AI account and credits data.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by ExcalidrawZ services. No network service can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure, so you should avoid sending sensitive content to AI if you do not want it processed by cloud services.
ExcalidrawZ is not directed to children, and AI features should not be used by children without appropriate supervision and consent where required.
